Success Story - Gregory Lyons
Updated: Feb 7, 2020
Meet Gregory. He came in to register with IE Project in September 2019, seeking assistance in finding employment.
With a young family and varied resume, including some experience in the construction industry and partial completion of a sheet metal apprenticeship, we were able to place Greg into a short-term labour hire assignment with THE Mining.
THE specialise in Mining, Civil Engineering and Construction Contracting and are a reputable Darwin-based company and valued client of ie.project.
Greg commenced in their manufacturing workshop based in Humpty Doo assisting Tradesmen with fabrication of materials for several major projects across Darwin.
Greg proved himself to be a hard worker and fit in with their small team immediately. His co-workers and the Fabrication Manager quickly recognised his potential and willingness to learn. A month later THE approached us about putting Greg on permanently through a Boilermaking apprenticeship.
While Greg had commenced an apprenticeship in the past he admitted to struggling with the bookwork side of things and regrettably withdrew. Fabrication Manager and mentor, Dion Layton, has personally committed to helping Greg achieve his goals to progress his career.
We are incredibly happy with the outcome and grateful to THE Mining for the opportunity. We wish Greg all the best in the future, knowing he will be in good hands.
